Laerdal’s mission is to help save one million more lives each year. His 2022 book, Reality Check: In Pursuit of the Right Questions, argued that the questions matter more than the answers, before AI made the point urgent. Its new edition is Volume I of The Founders Truth trilogy. A board member and advisor to health and ed-tech companies, he speaks internationally on AI, emerging technology and ecosystem building.

Laerdal’s mission is to help save one million more lives each year, and the work has taught him that technology decisions are rarely just technology decisions. They are decisions about people, assumptions, organizations and what we choose to value.

His 2022 book, Reality Check: In Pursuit of the Right Questions, argued that the questions matter more than the answers, before AI made the point urgent, and he has been making that case ever since. The book is about ambiguity, control and learning to see beyond the stories we mistake for reality; its new edition is Volume I of The Founders Truth trilogy. He is also a board member and advisor to health and ed-tech companies.

Carlo speaks internationally on AI, emerging technology and ecosystem building, turning complex ideas into questions people can remember, challenge and carry back into their work. He has served as a judge for the Global Innovation Institute’s Global Distinguished Innovators (GDI) Awards and is a 2022 CREA Global Awards honoree. He has written for Brainz Magazine and been featured on KevinMD, The Authority Podcast, the Scandinavian Product Podcast and The Speaking Club, and by the Global Innovation Institute.

He holds a bachelor’s degree from Notre Dame University and an Executive MBA from Georgetown University. He combines the technical fluency of an engineer with the curiosity of a writer, musician and lifelong student of human behavior, and can speak to the technical room and the boardroom without translating one for the other.
